Idly Bonda

The name looks weird though :) .I found this recipe in tamil magazine. This is really a good way to use left over batter.

Ingredients:

2 Cups- Idly Batter (Left Over)
1 cup- Pearl onions, finely chopped
3- Green Chilies
1Tsp- Ginger, finely chopped
1/4 cup - Shredded coconut (Optional)
Few- Curry leaves
Salt

Tempering
1/2 tsp- Mustard Seeds
2 Tsp- Urad Dhal
2 Tsp- Channa Dhal

Method:

Heat a tsp of oil in a pan. Add the ingredients for tempering.Add curry leaves. Then add the onions, green chillies and ginger. Add a pinch of salt.
Saute till the onions are soft. Once the onions are soft and turn pink , add this to the idly batter and mix well.(If adding coconut, add juts before turning off the stove)

Heat oil in a wok/kadai. Once they are hot, take a little of the batter , roll it to a bonda shape and fry in oil.Cook till the bonda turns golden brown. Enjoy a good evening snack.

Note: If the batter be thin, like dosa batter consistency, add rice flour as required.
