MADDUR VADA

This is a very famous recipe in Maddur( near Mysore). Whenever we travel from Bangalore to Mysore by train people sell them along with coffee. My daughter pestered me so much that, once I tried at home. And to my surprise, it turned out well. It is a great evening snack especially during monsoon!

Ingredients :

Maida - 1/2 cup
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Rawa - 1/4 cup
Wheat flour - 1/2 cup
Finely cut onions - 1 cup
Minced green chillies - 1 to 2 tbsp
Finely chopped curry and coriander leaves- one hand
Salt - as required
oil - enough for frying

Method :

Mix all the above in a bowl. Add 4 Tbsp of hot oil and blend well with finger tips to mix well with the flour. Divide the flour into parts and sprinkle water to one portion to make a hard dough. Make small balls and flatten on a plastic sheet and fry in hot oil till golden brown.
