Bombay Chutney

Its one of my favorite chutney my mother makes and long forgotten. I suddenly remembered about it and made this tasty dish today. Here is the recipe for Bombay Chutney or rather Mumbai chutney :)

Ingredients:

Big Onions - 2
Tomato - 1 or 2

Green Chilli - 2-3
Bengal Gram Flour - 1\4 Cup
Salt - to taste
Oil- 3 Tsp

Tempering

Mustard Seeds, Urad Dhal- 1 Tsp
Curry Leaves - Few

Garnish

Cilantro\Corriander leaves
Lemon juice - 1 Tsp ( Optional)

Method :

Cut onions, tomatoes and chilli lengthwise.Heat oil in a vessel. Add the tempering. Once it begins to splutter, add onions and chilies. Fey till the onions turn transparent.Add the tomatoes and fry for sometime. Meanwhile, mix the bengal gram flour with 1 cup water without lumps and add salt to it. Pour and allow to boil. Reduce the flame and keep stirring. Once the mixture begins to thicken and shines, remove from stove .Garnish with cilantro\corriander. Add the lemon juice (Optional). Serve hot with Chappatis and pulkas.
