Tomato Sambar

This is yet another tasty sambar that goes just with anything, Idly, dosa , chappati. You will sure feel like having a more of food with this sambar.




Ingredients:


Medium Size Tomato - 4 (diced)
Shredded coconut - 1\2 cup
Small Onions - 3\4 Cup ( Chopped)
Dhania - 3 Tsp
Cumin Seeds - 3 Tsp
Urad Dhal - 3Tsp
Channa Dhal \ Bengal gram - 3Tsp
Mustard Seeds - 3 Tsp
Roasted gram ( huri kadale\ potu kadalai) - 3Tsp
Red Chili - 4
Green Chili -2
Oil - for frying
Salt - to taste

Method:

Heat 2 tsp of oil in pan . Roast bengal gram, urad dhal, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chilli , green chili. Roast till the dhals turn light brown and remove from heat.Set aside and let it cool to room temperature. Heat 2 tsp of oil .Fry half of measured small onions. When it turn pink, add the tomatoes and let it cook till the tomatoes turn juicy.Set aside and cool. Grind both the toamtoes and dhals together with salt, coconut and roasted gram added to it.

Again heat 1 tsp of oil . Add the mustard seeds, once they splutter, add the remaining onions and saute for 2 mins. Now add the tomato mixture . Add water if its too thick.Once they begin to boil, remove from stove. Garnish with cilantro \ coriander leaves .Serve hot with idly\dosa\chappati.
